AI, Platforms and the Future of Work

10 September 2025 – Online Conference

11 September 2025 – Brussels Exclusive AI Roundtable

EVENT AT A GLANCE

Rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and the proliferation of digital labour platforms are fundamentally reshaping how individuals and organisations work. From offices to gig economies, algorithmic systems now mediate a wide array of work practices, increasingly blurring the boundary between humans and machines. The recent breakthrough of generative AI technologies, such as ChatGPT which emerged in late 2022, has marked a turning point. Around the world, individuals and organisations are experimenting with AI-driven tools to enhance productivity and create value. These developments bring both new opportunities and pressing challenges for the future of work, with uncertain impacts on economic activity, job quality, and social equity – issues now central to academic debate.

TICKETS

On September 10, the first day of the 2025 conference took place online, bringing together global participants for academic panels and keynote talks on AI, platform work, and the evolving world of work. At this pivotal moment, critical inquiry is needed to guide our understanding and governance of AI-augmented, platform-mediated work. This virtual gathering invited policymakers, industry leaders, worker representatives, scholars, and researchers from across disciplines to explore the complex interplay between AI, digital platforms, and the future of work.

The next day, September 11, the conference continued in person in Brussels with a dedicated policy-focused event. This roundtable brought together multiple stakeholders for high-level dialogue on AI policy and regulation, featuring interactive sessions aimed at developing concrete policy pathways and regulatory frameworks to support inclusive and equitable technological change in the world of work.
