Biography
Ella Hafermalz is an Assistant Professor at the KIN Center for Digital Innovation. Her research is on how employees experience new ways of working. Before becoming a researcher Ella worked in graduate recruitment, during which time she worked remotely for a social enterprise on the opposite side of Australia to where she lived. This experience motivated her to write a PhD on remote working, a topic that she continues to publish and talk on. She is now studying how AI changes knowledge work, the challenges that data scientists face in the workplace, and the social role of AI explanations in the adoption and effective use of predictive models.
