Biography
Lambèr Royakkers (1967) is associate professor in Ethics and Technology at the Department School of Innovation Sciences of the Eindhoven University of Technology. Lambèr Royakkers has studied mathematics, philosophy, and law. In 1996, he obtained his PhD on the logic of legal norms. During the last few years, he has done research and published in the following areas: ICT and ethics, robo-ethics, and moral responsibility. His research has an interdisciplinary character and focuses on the interface between ethics, law, and technology. Royakkers is involved in several NWO-projects and European projects, such as the NWO-program The Refugee Crisis in Europe: Modelling Humanitarian Logistics; the Horizon 2020 project MAGNETO (Multimedia Analysis and correlation enGine for orgaNised crimE prevenTion and investigati, and HORIZON 2020 project SCALINGS (Scaling up Co-Creation: Avenues and Limits for integrating Society in Science and Innovation). He has authored and co-authored more than 10 books, including Ethics, Engineering and Technology (Wiley-Blackwell, 2011), Moral Responsibility and the Problem of Many Hands (Taylor & Francis Gropup, 2015), and Just Ordinary Robots: Automation from love to War (CRC Press, 2016).
