Biography

Judith is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the unit of Migration, Integration and Transnationalization at WZB. In February 2021, she obtained a PhD in Sociology at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. In her dissertation, she studied trust and discrimination in the peer-to-peer platform economy, and specifically looked at the role of reputation systems. A major research project of hers is an online experiment that she conducted together with Timm Teubner (TU Berlin), Rense Corten (Utrecht University) and Martijn Arets. In the experiment, they asked clients of four gig platforms to evaluate the profiles of workers they could potentially hire. They studied if reputation imported from a different platform increased trust, and also if it mattered if the reputation was earned with a different type of job.
