Biography
Mariya Aleksynska is a Lecturer at Pantheon Sorbonne University (Paris 1) and a Research Fellow at Institute of Labor Economics (IZA: Bonn). Her areas of expertise include international, development and labour economics, with a specific focus on work in the digital (gig) economy, non-standard forms of employment, labour market institutions, and international migration.
Holding a PhD in Economics from Bocconi University (Milan: 2008), she is a former International Labour Organization official (ILO Geneva: 2012-2018), former CEPII researcher (Paris-based research center in International Economics: 2008-2012), former research assistant at Cambridge and Bocconi universities, including for the IMF-funded projects; former instructor at Sciences Po Paris, Nanterre University (Paris X), and ILO-ITC. Mariya has a strong publication record in top-ranked international journals and a solid experience in policy and technical advice for international fora and within institutional collaborations, including G-20, ILO-Eurofound, ILO-OECD, ILO-KNOMAD (World Bank).
