Biography

Anja Eleveld is an associate professor social law at the Vrije Universiteit. She is also the coordinator of empirical legal research at the Law Faculty. Anja combines legal and (qualitative) empirical research methods and her research focuses on the relationship between power and freedom in work relations. Currently, she supervises a PhD research on the regulation of Platform work. Anja holds a degree in labour law, political science and cultural anthropology. She obtained her PhD on the reform of Dutch Social Security Law at Leiden University in 2012. Since then she has initiated and participated in various research projects, among which the NWO-funded project on the experiences of welfare recipients who perform mandatory work (VENI grant). Since 2018 Anja also holds the position of substitute member of the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights (College voor de Rechten van Mens).
