Lieutenant-colonel, Royal Netherlands Armed Forces Roundtable leader
Ilse Verdiesen is a lieutenant-colonel in the Royal Netherlands Armed Forces and a part-time PhD student at Delft University of Technology. She works at the Innovation centre of the Defencestaff in The Hague and has been deployed to Bosnia and Afghanistan in the past. Her PhD research focusses on the design of Human Oversight of Autonomous Weapons to study the control mechanisms that are related to Meaningful Human Control and military decision-making processes. She conducted her graduation project on moral values related to Autonomous Weapons at the Media Lab of MIT as part of her master Systems Engineering, Policy Analysis and Management at Delft University of Technology.
